I.F. Khrutsky. Portrait of A. Mitskevich. 1850—1900






Ivan Fomich Khrutsky (1810–1885) was a Belarusian painter, known as a master of still life, although the artist had created many portraits, landscapes and interiors. He was born in the town of Ula of Vitebsk Province. He studied at Polotsk Higher Piarist School, the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg. From 1845 he lived and worked in his estate in Zakharnichi, near Polotsk, where the artist’s grave is located today.
Ivan Fomich Khrutsky is known as the artist who worked in line with the Russian academic school.
