Born in Minsk region. In 1959 he graduated from the D. Mendeleev Institute of Chemical Technology in Moscow. He worked at Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant, at the Research Institute of the Electrode Industry. Candidate of Technical Sciences. From 1968 to 1976, he worked at Novopolotsk Polytechnic Institute as a lecturer, a head of the department, from 1974 — as a rector. By 1985 — director of the Institute of the Electrode Industry, then - deputy director of the Soyuzuglerod union in Moscow. From 1987 to 2004 — Rector of Polotsk State University (until 1993 — Novopolotsk Polytechnic Institute). In 1989 he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences, in 1994 — the title Honoured Worker of Industrial Education. Professor of Chemistry and Technology of Oil and Gas Refining. Honorary citizen of Novopolotsk since 1998. Lives in Novopolotsk.
He was awarded the Order of Friendship of Peoples, the Order of Honour, the Veteran of Labour medal, the Diploma of the Supreme Council of the BSSR.
The title of Honorary Citizen of Polotsk was conferred in 2015.
