Ivan Mikheyevich LIKHACHEV (1897-1975)
Born in Moscow Oblast. From 1916 served in the tsarist army, from 1918 in the Red Army, graduated from the Regimental School for Junior Commanders. Participant of the Civil War. Studied at the Industrial Academy in Moscow. Since 1935, he worked as the first secretary of Polotsk Raion Committee of the CP (B) B, as the head of the organizational and economic department of the Narkamzem of the BSSR. During the war he was a member of the collegium, deputy chairman of the military tribunal of the 2nd Byelorussian Front. From 1947 — the secretary of Polotsk City Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus, the head of the department of industrial and municipal construction of Polotsk Oblast Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus, chairman of the regional professional union. Personal Pensioner of All-Union's Significance since 1973.
He was awarded the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner, the Order of the Red Banner of Labour, medals, and diplomas of the Supreme Council of the BSSR.
The title of Honorary Citizen of Polotsk was conferred in 1967.
