International Scientific Conference “Simiaon of Polack in the Cultural Field of East Slavs”

On February 6, 2020 an International Scientific Conference “Simiaon of Polack in the Cultural Field of East Slavs” dedicated to the 390th anniversary of Simiaon of Polack was held in the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The Conference was organized by the Intergovernmental Foundation for Educational, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation of the CIS, the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, the Center for the Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature researches of the National Academy of Sciences.

Representatives from A. M. Gorky Institute of World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Belarusian State University, the Institute of Philosophy, Russian Academy of Sciences, the Maksymovych Scientific Library took part in the Сonference.

The head of the Museum of the Belarusian Book-printing Slavina Gavrilova spoke at the Conference about the activity of the Museum-Library of Simiaon of Polack, about its 25th anniversary, about the 5th International Scientific Conference "Simeon of Polotsk: worldview, socio-political and literary activity" dedicated to the 390th anniversary of the enlightener’s birth, which was held by Polack National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve in November 2019, and about the prospects of holding scientific events in Polack. The participants of the Conference endorsed initiative of holding an International Forum dedicated to the 400th anniversary of the birth of Simiaon of Polack in his home town in 2029.
