Stories of a peasant house

In March 2023, the Museum of Local History of Polotsk hosted a series of classes for children of the city's kindergartens on the topic "Stories of a Peasant House" as part of the "Museum Kaleidoscope" program. They were visited by boys and girls of kindergartens №2, №7, №14, №19, №24 named after P.S. Portnovai, №29, №30, Polotsk.

During the classes, they got acquainted with the traditional housing of Belarusian peasants at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries, willingly listened to the story about how houses were built and what parts they were made of. Kindergarten students were particularly interested in the interior items of the main room of the house and its annexes – sency (бел. сенцы). A nice addition was the performance of a belarusian folk lullaby. A At the end of the classes, the researchers offered the preschoolers to taste everyday peasant dishes, which formed pleasant memories of visiting the museum classes in the children.
