In 2022, as a part of the Year of Historical Memory, Polotsk National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve is holding the 8th International Scientific and Practical Conference "History and Archeology of Polotsk and Polotsk Land", which is dedicated to the 1160th anniversary of the first mention of Polotsk in chronicles and is held on November 1-2, 2022.
The conference, which takes place every five years, has become a traditional and exceptional event in the scientific and cultural life of Belarus and neighboring countries. The conference is attended by scientists from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Sweden and Italy. The topics of the conference cover a diverse range of issues on archeology, history and culture of Polotsk and Belarus as a whole. Scientific reports of the conference confirm Polotsk historical and cultural heritage land has a rich, almost inexhaustible potential, which requires further deep and versatile study and propaganda.
Archaeologists and historians, museum researchers, specialists in the field of museology and cultural studies, art historians, representatives of Belarusian and foreign scientific centres and educational institutions are invited to participate in the conference.
